Established as a leading monumental mason, Albert Jones Memorials have been listed in the same family ownership since October 1980 and has been recognised as Albert Jones Memorials dating back to 1930.

The Old Colliery Offices
The existing building used to be the old colliery offices for the Denton coal pit and still has a piece of the original wall at the back of the building.
Denton Colliery was situated at Burton Nook, off Stockport Road, Denton (National Grid Ref: SJ 92506 94431), and ultimately it became the principal coal mine in the townships of Denton and Haughton.
On the Denton Colliery side of Stockport Road, the colliery office was taken over by Albert Jones in 1930, a monumental stone mason, one part being used as a showroom and the other part and the first floor being used as his residence.
The working area was in the yard at the rear. During World War II this yard was used on one occasion to give a public demonstration of how to extinguish incendiary bombs dropped by enemy aircraft.
Albert Jones Memorials are proud of the history and heritage this site represents, and we’re delighted to maintain the use of the showroom and working yard to the visiting public today.

We are able to offer a complete monumental masonry service from new memorials, etchings, additional inscriptions, photo plaques, vases, releveling, refixing and restoration work to advising on local burial ground authority regulations.
We always advise you on the relative merits of the different types of stone and guidance on what to include in your inscription.
Because memorials are such a personal tribute, we believe in working closely with our customers from design to completion. As a time honoured independent stone mason, we can offer low competitive prices direct to the public.
